The following are important rules that we all have to follow to keep everyone safe in the current situation. Rules have been laid down by The Scottish Government, The Church of Scotland, Sports Scotland and the group fitness industry. In addition, the risk assessments that both the church and I have had to carry out, has necessitated some additional measures. Like everything else, it just takes a bit of getting used to:


  • Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the class start time.
  • You don't need to sign in, just pick a space when you arrive.
  • Please leave the windows open, this is an essential ventilation requirement.
  • Please follow the one way system which is in place.
  • There is hand sanitiser to use on entering the hall (or bring your own).
  • Access to the hall is via the back door only.


  • You must wear a mask while in the church hall except when exercising.
  • Be careful not to trip on floor markers.
  • Adhere to 2m social distancing when moving around the venue before and after class.
  • Every person will have approximately 9m2 of space, which will be marked out.
  • Please keep your belongings with you in this space and stay within your area while exercising.
  • Sweat towels are not currently allowed.
  • Please only bring essential items to class.
  • At the end of class please leave promptly after putting on your mask.
  • If you want to chat to anyone from class please do so outside leaving the exit clear.


  • Our designated toilet is the one at the back of the hall, remember to wear your mask (and footwear if at Yoga).
  • Please follow instructions provided by the church regarding toilet use.
  • Do not use the kitchen, please make sure you bring your own water.



  • Please keep your footwear within your exercise space.
  • Bring your own mat and any equipment you need, such as a yoga block.
  • I can provide you with a free, clean (but used) yoga block for you to keep - let me know if you would like one and I will have this ready for you at class.
  • The floor will be sanitised either the night before or immediately before class.
  • Place your mat close to the centre of your space.
  • I recommend bringing an extra layer and socks, in case the room gets chilly.


If you suspect (or know) that you have or have had Coronavirus, you must not attend class for at least 14 days from the onset of symptoms and until symptom free for at least 7 days. If you become symptomatic whilst at a class, you must leave immediately. Do not attend any class if you are self-isolating for any reason.

We have to use the back door, so if you arrive at the front follow the path around the right hand side of the church until you get to the back and see an open door. Generally I find it easier to park on one of the streets around the back, on e.g. Woodhall Avenue.
