The following relates to Outdoor Zumba:

  • Do not attend any class if you have Coronavirus symptoms or are self isolating due to a member of your family having symptoms, or as a result of contact tracing.
  • Do not attend any class if you are currently in quarantine after returning from a country on the quarantine list.
  • If you suspect (or know) that you have had Coronavirus, you must not attend class for at least 14 days from the onset of symptoms and until symptom free for at least 7 days.
  • If you become symptomatic whilst at a class, you should leave immediately.
  • While masks are not recommended during exercise, it is recommended that you wear one if chatting to friends before or after class and cannot maintain a minimum distance of 2m. There is nothing to touch which would require hand sanitiser but I would recommend having one with you just in case. I will have a spare bottle if you need it.
  • Don’t bring towels or jingly belts. Do bring water. Please only bring essential items.
  • Social distancing will be 3 metres (minimum, probably more) and there will be a marker cone which you will stand just to the right of. I have chosen choreography with very little movement to your left. When you move to the left it will just be a step in front of the cone. You can place your water bottle and essential items behind the cone. If you need to shed a layer or two during class, I would recommend placing layers under your water bottle or keys so they are less likely to blow away. 3 metre distancing is recommended for classes involving movement so that even when one person moves a little faster than another, 2 metres can still be maintained. So, please don’t worry about moving, the 3m distancing gives everyone lots of space.
  • Please do not shout to friends above the music. I am not allowed to use music if it causes anyone to raise their voice. Obviously, no high fives, singing (pretend singing is OK!), hugs or whooping.
  • There will be no Zumba choreography that involves walking in circles. All movements will be forward and back or right to left. When not moving forward, back or side to side, please do your best to return to your starting position next to the cone.
  • Front row – when moving forward, please do not pass the red cones so that we remain socially distanced.
  • Please be conscious of social distancing on arrival and when leaving. The first people to arrive should occupy the middle spaces. If you are in the middle of the group, wait for people on the outside edges to leave first.
  • Please do not move the marker cones. If a cone blows away (or a dog steals it) just leave it. As we will have established spacing at the start, just be aware of your own space.
  • While I appreciate your help, please don’t pick up the marker cones at the end of the class, as it makes it difficult for everyone to stay 2m apart. I will collect them when everyone has left.
  • Wear supportive footwear that you will find comfortable moving on grass.
  • I will check the area before class, but as an extra precaution, scan the grass to your right and in front before we start.
  • Half way through the class, I will recommend that everyone moves back slightly if the area of grass we are dancing on has become slippery.
  • Most importantly, pee before leaving the house unless you want to have to go behind a bush and even more importantly, despite all the new rules, have fun! Oh and watch out for worms!
